Law of Attraction Made Easy | Dr. Jerry Hoskin

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Does Steve Pavlina?s Law of Attraction looks like some things from the hippy time.

Pavlina?s Law of Attraction may at first sight appear like some things that was spouted by mystics during the

Attraction Marketing

age of peace and love!

Steve?s beginnings were quite humble, he wasn?t raised in a rich family so in no way did he grow up privileged. In fact Steve?s search for private development and growth came when he hit the all-time low, sitting in a cell serving time for felony theft.

Why Do People Need an Individual Development Program?

With Steve?s methods you?ll expose heaps of subconscious explanations why some folks are successful while many others are not. Often it?s simply down to the various way successful folks look at things. While one person confronting a hurdle will give up , others will find a way around the problem and learn and grow from the experience. Steve shows people to work and think in a manner so they?re going to be in a position to overcome the stumbling blocks that are stopping them from achieving what they want to.

He realized early that what holds many folks back is the way they were brought up many kids encounter lots of negativity growing up. This is conditioning which is like a person?s early programming if you like. If you?re constantly failing at everything you do ? particularly at aspects of your business, visit StevePavlina.com ? you?ll be there next to the thousands of site visitors he gets each day.

Take some time to browse some of many articles he has on his website ? most of them are actually useful for making you mindful of how things can be miles better for you and your business, if you just think differently. As an example, why do you hold yourself back from doing certain tasks? Why do you hate doing certain things is it because you are not successful at doing them? This could be anything from meeting folks to writing letters. Steve shows how positive thinking can get you past these stumbling blocks.

LOA for Personal and Thriving Business Development

Steve decisively believes that with the right mind-set you can attract whatever you really need, and by employing his techniques in the Law of Attraction he?ll show how to think and be utterly effective when trying to accomplish your goals.

Law of Attraction will help you in achieving your targets, and help you overcome difficulties once they appear ? and we all know we?re going to have Problems. By maintaining positivity and understanding the LOA approach to circumventing difficulties is itself part of self-improvement and private development. You have 2 decisions, to progress or fail, and after following and understanding the Law of Attraction you won?t be one of the screw ups.

Tips from the Law Of Atraction Methodology

Do you have goals or have you been just going through the motions every day doing what you have got to do with no plan in mind? One really basic tip that Steve shows is if you truly want something, to firstly empty your head and target the stuff you want. Saying you really need a new house won?t get you anywhere near to getting a new house, but by having set goals uppermost in your mind, they?ll drive you on to stay positive about your life and your business, making your ambitions a attainable reality. If you are beginning a brand new business, these goals can drive you forward to when you can meet the 1st financial goal you set, and then move on to set other goals. That?s how entrepreneurs think every day, and with Steve Pavlina?s Law of Attraction you will be able to condition your intellect to eventually think like they do.

Should We Abolish the Corporate Income Tax? | G7Finance.com ...

By
Peter Coy

No. Bad idea.

OK, sorry, that was a little blunt. After all, there are a lot of smart people who think President Barack Obama didn?t go far enough in his recent proposal to cut the corporate income tax rate to 28 percent from 35 percent. ? They would like to see it go all the way to zero. They say trying to tax corporations is a waste of time because they aren?t like people?ultimately they just pass along the cost of the tax to their shareholders, workers, and (to a small extent) customers.

The abolitionists aren?t all conservatives, either. The Atlantic?s Megan McArdle has said the corporate income tax ?may be the stupidest tax we have.? Even a liberal like blogger Matt Yglesias asked on Feb. 24 why the U.S. doesn?t just ditch the corporate income tax. (He decided that getting rid of it now and replacing the revenue in a fair way is politically unrealistic.)

But this just might be a case in which the policy elites of both left and right are wrong?and ordinary Americans, who kind of like the corporate income tax, are right. The strongest argument for the corporate income tax is one that is rarely heard anymore but was widely used at its inception in 1909?namely, that the tax is a brake on excessive corporate power.

The person who has pressed this argument is Reuven Avi-Yonah, a professor at the University of Michigan Law School. Avi-Yonah is well-credentialed, with both a PhD in history from Harvard University and a JD from Harvard Law and consulting work for the Treasury Dept. and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. His 2004 paper, ?Corporations, Society and the State: A Defense of the Corporate Tax?, is a classic. Here?s an excerpt:

Why is the corporate tax so politically resilient? The reason seems to be the same as the reason the corporate alternative minimum tax was enacted in 1986- ordinary Americans have a viscerally negative reaction to the notion that large, profitable corporations should pay no tax while they bear the income tax burden. This is universally dismissed as an example of ordinary people?s ?fiscal illusion?, the misguided belief that corporations bear the burden of the tax, while every economically literate person knows that taxes can only be borne by natural persons.

But are people really that ignorant? I would argue that the answer is no, and that in fact what people perceive is closer to reality than the economic models of incidence would suggest. The corporate tax is imposed on corporate income, which adds to the economic resources of the corporation. These resources are managed by individual corporate managers, and their control over such resources gives them significant economic, social and political power. In that sense, imposing a corporate tax reduces the economic resources and therefore also the power of corporate management. Whatever the economic incidence of the corporate tax, from this perspective its most immediate burden falls on corporate management, and not surprisingly they are the strongest supporters of corporate tax repeal.

Republican William Howard Taft, who was president in 1909, was initially skeptical of taxing corporations, but ended up giving a full-throated defense of the measure in his message to Congress. Avi-Yonah dug up a quote:

While the faculty of assuming a corporate form has been of the utmost utility in the business world, it is also true that substantially all of the abuses and all of the evils which have aroused the public to the necessity of reform were made possible by the use of this very faculty. If now, by a perfectly legitimate and effective system of taxation, we are incidentally able to possess the Government and the stockholders and the public of the knowledge of the real business transactions and the gains and profits of every corporation in the country, we have made a long step toward that supervisory control of corporations which may prevent a further abuse of power.

Avi-Yonah considers this a stronger argument than the ones usually advanced by defenders of the corporate income tax, such as the idea that not taxing corporations would make it easier for people to shelter income by stuffing it into their own personal corporations. A century after the Progressive Era, Avi-Yonah comes down pretty much the same way as Taft:

My basic argument is therefore that the corporate tax is justified as a means to control the excessive accumulation of power in the hands of corporate management, which is inconsistent with a properly functioning liberal democratic polity.

Great Tips For Lowering The Heating And Air Conditioning Bills ...

By Adrianna Noton

The average homeowner in the United States spends over 2200 dollars per year for heating and air conditioning. For many the cost to keep the temperature comfortable puts a strain on the household budget. Fortunately, there are several things that can be done to lower the cost of utilities.

Insulate the home. While most homes built within the past 40 years have had insulation installed during construction, older homes may not be insulated. In addition, there are new guidelines as to the amount of insulation needed in the home. If your home does not meet the new guidelines, adding more insulation can help to lower the cost of HVAC bills.

Ensure all ducts are sealed. In many homes, the ducts have lost their integrity. As a result, the air that the homeowner pays to heat of cool is being lost into attics or crawl spaces where it does not help to make the home more comfortable. Sealing ductwork ensures that this air is delivered to the place it can do the most good.

Insulate ducts. When energy was cheap, homes were often built with simple uninsulated ducts. These ducts allowed loss of much of the energy used to heat or cool the home. Now that energy is much more expensive, insulating the ducts can reduce the amount of energy that is wasted. Talk with a HVAC contractor about the practicality of insulating the ductwork in the home.

Install weather stripping. Weather stripping and door sweeps can prevent drafts that make the home feel colder in the winter. There are several types of weather stripping available and most can be easily installed by the homeowner.

Consider window upgrades. Older single paned windows are energy wasters. There are several options to upgrade the windows to a double-glazed or even a triple-glazed window. In addition, in homes where double-glazed windows are installed, if moisture collects inside the windows, they have lost their seal and less efficient than they could be. It may be time to replace the existing windows with newer ones.

Have the HVAC system serviced regularly. Homeowners can change filters regularly, but for peak efficiency, the unit needs to be maintained. Every year a system is not maintained, it becomes less efficient. A HVAC contractor can perform the necessary maintenance to ensure that the unit is working at top efficiency.

Consider installing a new HVAC system. There have been great strides toward higher energy efficiency in the past ten years. In many instances, installing a new system will pay for itself in a couple of years due to the energy savings made possible. In homes that do not currently have a central forced air unit, there are options to maintain the temperature of the home that do not require installing ducts.

While heating and air conditioning can make your home much more comfortable, it can also be very expensive. Homeowners should consider the above steps that can help to make their home more energy efficient. The energy that is saved affects the homeowner?s pocket but also has an impact on the world.

Do You Need Money For College Tuition This Year? The Best Article ...

It doesn?t matter why you don?t have that degree. The fact is, you need it now to allow you to advance your career or to expand your job opportunities. Education is key to getting ahead in the modern work world and you need to get that education.

Sure, there are student loans available, but that may not be the best answer. It?s hard to think of working hard for years to get a degree only to see the extra pay you get with it eaten up by the student loans you have to pay back.

The best source of financial aid for Moms going back to school is the many Federal financial aid programs, chiefly the Pell grants.

The first place to start to get money for school is with the many Federal programs that are available to help you get a college degree. Happily, the process of getting Federal Student Aid has been greatly simplified by the introduction of the FAFSA, or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid can get you on the list of multiple Federal student aid programs. It?s a bit tough to fill out, but you only do it once per year to find out which programs that you are eligible for and how much you can get for college.

The FAFSA Grant notice will also list any Federal student loan programs that you can take advantage of. While these may be necessary, it?s best to look to private sector scholarships before signing up for student loans, which will have to be paid back, eventually.

Your school will have a financial aid office. Part of their job is to advise you regarding any financial aid opportunities that you can take advantage of. Make an appointment to talk to a counselor and see what is out there. And go back at least once a year to see if there is anything new that you can take advantage of.

Dos Santos? BJJ coach not worried with Overeem?s guillotine

Story and photo by Guilherme Cruz

Alistair Overeem conquered 19 of his 36 wins via submissions, eight of them with a guillotine chokes. Besides that, he has earned an ADCC trial with three wins using that same coup. In the UFC, he debuted with a knockout over Brock Lesnar, but may use that weapon against Junior ?Cigano? dos Santos, on May 26.

Jiu-Jitsu coach of the heavyweight champion, Ramon Lemos told TATAME that Junior is doing fine on the ground and that the guillotine choke is not the greatest danger Overeem can bring to this bout.

?He submitted Vitor Belfort with a guillotine choke, but we have to have this in mind: to get to a choke, Cigano has to take him down or he has to take Cigano down. To take Cigano down he needs to dodge from Cigano?s hands first. It?s not something easy to do?, analyzes Ramon.

?People haven?t seen Cigano?s Jiu-Jitsu and his offensive takedowns. When you see it, you?ll see he is a complete athlete. And I?ll tell you something: Dos Santos might surprise Overeem and submit him in this fight?.

Showing much confidence about the fighter, who is undefeated in the UFC, Ramon says the x factor in this fight will be once again the champion?s hands.

?I don?t see Overeem fighting two rounds against Cigano. Cigano will punch him and he?s going down?, states, predicting a long reign for Junior. ?What Anderson (Silva) did in the UFC is what Cigano is up to. He?s gonna shock the world. People haven?t seen half what Cigano is. Dorea built him to be a champion?.

Team wants Anderson training with Cigano

Anderson Silva and Junior dos Santos keep, along with Jose Aldo, Brazil in the top of the world in the UFC, but they are going to have tough challenges ahead of them. ?Spider? is defending his title against Chael Sonnen in June, while the heavyweight faces Alistair Overeem in May. To get there sharp, their team wants them to train together.

?I?ll do anything for them to train together in Bahia or in Rio de Janeiro. I?ll talk to Dorea and we?ll figure a way out?, reveals Ramon Lemos, Jiu-Jitsu coach of the champions.

Ramon tells that Anderson has already started training in the United States, at Black House, but affirms he hasn?t geared gait.

?Some of his injuries are better, he?s not feeling so much pain, so he?s just keeping his good conditioning. When it?s three months before the fight we?re preparing him for war?, explains.

About the fight against Chael Sonnen, the black belt does not believe there will be news about their first bout, in 2010.

?We have a game plan set. We know all about Chael Sonnen weapons and I believe he?s not changing his game plan. His game plan will be punching him and taking him down?, said.

?Anderson will be ready to stand-up and ready to work the takedowns. We train him to be a champion. I guess it?s not likely that Anderson plays Sonnen?s game. We know about Anderson?s experience, we know he can leads the show?.

Justin Theroux: Break Dancing on Ellen!

Justin Theroux knows how to get DOWN!

Stopping by the Ellen DeGeneres show to promote Wanderlust, in which he co-stars with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston (they met on set) and Paul Rudd, Justin showed off some sick break dance moves. Turns out we can thank Jen for this, too.

Watch him let loose to Rob Base DJ E Z Rock's "It Takes Two":

"My girlfriend, I don’t know if any of you guys know her, ever since she saw Zoolander she’s been obsessed with making me break dance," Justin told Ellen.

While she tried to get him to bust a move at her birthday party, Theroux says he got out of it by telling her he couldn't do it without his "breaking shoes."

He continues, "So we got home that night. It was late and she literally came out with a pair of shoes. My actual 'breaking shoes.'" The best part of it?

Jennifer Aniston was nice enough to send the shoes to Ellen too, and after a moment of resignation, he was not shy about showing off his moves. Respect!

Justin Timberlake Closer To Playing Elton John In Biopic?

John's husband said that Timberlake is on board as soon as a director is nailed down.
By Gil Kaufman

Justin Timberlake
Photo: Getty Images

A month ago, word was that Justin Timberlake was #1 on Elton John's wish list to portray the "Benny and the Jets" singer in an upcoming biopic. Now, it sounds like JT is all but signed up for the role, but is awaiting word on a director before he fully commits.

According to E! Online, John's husband and producing partner, David Furnish, said the two music stars have been in serious discussions about the project.

"We're searching for a director," Furnish said. "It's important we all share the same vision ... Elton and Justin have had conversations about it. Justin also says he has to feel comfortable with the director and the director has to be comfortable with Justin. The chemistry is really important. There's no race to make this. We're just going to take the time to make it right."

Timberlake, who popped up on last weekend's "Saturday Night Live" portraying a different musician -- Grammy winner Bon Iver -- was reportedly eyed
by John for the role in his biopic after the pair collaborated in the David LaChapelle-directed 2001 clip for John's "This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore."

Timberlake did a dead-on impression of John in that video and has since proven on SNL and the big screen to be an excellent mimic and thoughtful actor. Plus, you know, he can sing, so it's possible he could even credibly croon John's songs in a movie to give it that extra bit of believability.

The script for the John biopic is being written by "Billy Elliot" writer Lee Hall, but a director has not yet been announced. John, who has enjoyed one of the most colorful, outrageous and hit-filled careers in pop history has said that the movie of his life will not be the usual soft-focus look back.

"It's going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a 'Moulin Rouge!' " John said in January. "I just don't want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn't been like that. And it only goes up to when I go into rehab in 1990. It starts with me going into rehab and ends when I come out."

News coverage of alcohol's harm may sway support for liquor-control laws

News coverage of alcohol's harm may sway support for liquor-control laws [ Back to EurekAlert! ] Public release date: 22-Feb-2012

If people see news coverage of alcohol's role in violent crime and fatal injuries, they may give more support to alcohol-control laws, according to a study in the March issue of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs.

It's estimated that drinking is involved in almost one third of deaths from accidents and violent crime. But the news reports on those deaths often make no mention of alcohol.

"People have some awareness of the social cost that alcohol can have," said the study's lead author, Michael D. Slater, Ph.D., of Ohio State University in Columbus. "But only a small fraction of news stories on violent crime and nonmotor vehicle accidents acknowledge the contributing role of alcohol."

As a result, many people may not realize how often drinking contributes to accidents off the roadways, as well as to violence, Slater noted.

And that lack of awareness might dampen the public's support for alcohol-control laws, such as the strict enforcement of underage-drinking laws or prohibitions on serving alcohol to intoxicated customers.

To see how media coverage affects people's views on alcohol control, Slater's team sent online surveys to a national sample of 789 U.S. adults. The surveys contained stories on violent crime, car crashes and other accidents taken from local U.S. newspapers; each story was manipulated into one version that mentioned alcohol involvement and a second that did not.

After reading the media accounts, participants were asked about their support for existing alcohol-control laws, as well as proposed restrictionssuch as limits on the number of bars and liquor stores that can exist in a given area.

Overall, Slater's team found that when people read stories that mentioned alcohol, they were more likely to throw their support to existing alcohol-control laws.

"I think this buttresses the idea that media coverage does matter," Slater said. "Alcohol, as a public health issue, is not as front and center as it might be if there were more news coverage."

Even if alcohol-control laws are already on the books, public support matters because local resources are needed to enforce those laws, Slater noted.

He said that local authorities can help by mentioning any role of alcohol when discussing crimes and accidents with the media. And reporters, Slater noted, can also ask about any alcohol involvementnot just in car crashes but in other accidents and crimes as well.

Home Improvement ? Choosing the correct Bird House Feeder ...

A bird house feeder can be a expansive addition to your backyard. They reach in many different styles and designs. Some styles are classic, others contemporary, and some are even amusing. Moreover, you are participating in the nature around you and encouraging birds to peep your backyard as a status of comfort and sustenance. The bird-watching opportunities alone are worth the runt cost of a feeder.

A archaic bird feeder is made of wood and attaches directly to a pole or tree in your backyard. These bird feeders, however, can be problematic because they are vulnerable to raccoons and squirrels. Raccoons and squirrels are expert at climbing to these high places and raiding the bird house feeders for all food you residence there. Who wants to accumulate rodents feasting in your feeder rather than birds? Worse composed, birds have been known to nest in feeders. The plan of a raccoon climbing up to your feeder and grabbing eggs from a next is sickening. The vulnerability of old feeders to raccoon and squirrel intrusions is what makes them so unattractive.

There are also copper bird house feeders in the market. These feeders perceive very nice and are designed to thwart squirrels and raccoons. The downside of copper feeders is that they are significantly more expensive than wood bird feeders (or bird feeders made of any other material) . Although you want to have birds near to your backyard, it is understandable that you do not want to fracture the bank feeding them.

You might want to deem plastic bird house feeders. Plastic bird house feeders are easy to tidy. Plastic feeders are decorative and made in unbelievable detail. They are often designed to explore like grand more expensive metal bird house feeders. Needless to say, plastic bird house feeders are relatively inexpensive.

Shop around. Based on your budget there is certainly a bird feeder that can meet your needs. Invite birds to portion your lives but putting out a nice bird feeder. construct a relationship with nature and support your children to invent a relationship with nature. You will be very cheerful that you did!

Google's Dart lands in Chromium tech preview

Leaves weren't the only things flying around Mountain View last Autumn if you remember, Google also unleashed its Dart programming language. Now, developers can get their hands on a tech preview version of Chromium, with the Dart virtual machine baked right in. There are Mac and Linux binaries available today, but no details about other platforms (ahem Windows) at this time. The preview lets you run your programs directly on the Dart VM, skipping the separate compilation stage. While it's just for developers at the minute, there are plans to include this in standard Chrome releases in the future. Aim at the source link after the break for the full details.

Tips for Pitching Venture Capital Investors - Business Plan Journal

Posted by admin on 17 February, 2012

There is basically one purpose when you make a presentation to a VC and that is to get them intrigued about your business. In fact such a presentation is like one that is done in a corporate setting but the VCs have to focus on the essential facts pertaining to your business. You need to be able to answer their questions and back up your answers with facts and figures.

Just as with everyone VCs are subject to time restrictions and therefore it is advisable that you keep your presentation clear and to the point. Look at it from the investor?s point of view. Consider listening to a number of presentations each week and ask yourself what would make one stand out from all the others.

*** Click here to raise Venture Capital!

The following facts are crucial and must be included in order to grab their attention and assist their memory:

A description of your business model and its function.
A description of how revenue is generated and what your costs are.
An explanation as to why your business is going to be a success.
An explanation of how far along are you in your business plan.
A description of your target market including size, growth, demographics, and change over time.
A description of how your products and services meet a currently unfulfilled need among consumers.
An outline of your competitors which happens to be the one point that is so often neglected in presentations.
A break-down of the amount of investment that you require in order to succeed.
An indication of the expected time it will take for your plan to work.
An indication of your management teams abilities and history of success.

Bear in mind what the whole point of the presentation is: To solicit excitement in the investor. This is still the beginning stage and therefore not the right time to discuss things such as terms and details. The VC will not hesitate to contact you if interested. It is important to not go overboard or push your business too much. You need to be enthusiastic and optimistic but be realistic nonetheless. Remember that all VCs hear about strong management teams and successful business models, or that this is a first-mover advantage opportunity. Guy Kawaski who is a very successful and well-known VC has been quoted as saying: ??it gives me a migraine just thinking about those things?.

Again, try to think from the venture capitalist?s perspective. What is their goal? Make money. You need to make the case that your business will grow, increase significantly in value, and reach a liquidity event for a significant return on investment.

After every presentation is a question-and-answer session. This is your last opportunity to show the investors not only that your business is an ideal candidate for equity funding, but that you are a credible manager. Know every aspect of your finances and projections, inside and out. Know exactly where your business is going and when it will be profitable. Include detailed plans for your capital expenditures and uses-of-funds. Remember, this is your chance! Put your business on display and demonstrate how capable and enthusiastic you are about building it.

Kodak ends naming deal with Hollywood Theater (AP)

One big name that likely won't be at this year's Oscars: Kodak.

The Eastman Kodak Co. received court approval Wednesday to end its sponsorship deal with the Hollywood theater that is the venue for the Academy Awards.

Kodak signed a $74 million deal for naming rights to the theater in 2000. But the struggling photography company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month and wanted to end its contract for naming rights of the glamorous Los Angeles theater as it tries to improve its finances.

The company's financial advisers said in court documents that the benefits of having the company's name on the 3,300-seat erstwhile Kodak Theatre aren't worth the contract's cost.

Kodak confirmed Wednesday that a U.S. Bankruptcy judge approved its request to end the deal.

It's unclear what name will be on the theater when the Oscars are awarded Feb. 26. Kodak said the termination is effective immediately and deferred questions on the theater's name to the venue's owners and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

CIM Group, which owns the theater, declined to comment on the decision or the future of the theater's name. A representative for the academy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In addition to the theater's name, its owners may have to make other tweaks.

The theater has a George Eastman Room, named after Kodak's founder, which displays one of the nine Oscar statuettes that Kodak has been awarded through the years for its scientific and technical achievements and contributions to the industry, according to the theater's website

Kodak, based in Rochester, N.Y., is a photography pioneer but has been battered by competition and has failed to keep up with the shift from film to digital technology. It has been in a roughly decade-long turnaround but filed for bankruptcy protection when it ran short on cash.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York handling the case also approved a $950 million debtor-in-possession financing for Kodak on Wednesday that allows it to operate normally during bankruptcy, while it tries to sell its collection of digital-imaging patents.

Kodak spokesman Christopher Veronda said the company will still have a presence at the awards show. He noted that seven of the nine films nominated for the Oscar for best picture were shot on Kodak film.

Eurozone has one foot in recession (AP)

LONDON ? The 17-nation eurozone has one foot in recession, according to official figures showing the economy contracted 0.3 percent in the final three months of 2011 from the previous quarter, a clear sign that Europe's debt crisis has spared no country in the single currency bloc.

The decline was the first since the second quarter of 2009 and followed a meager 0.1 percent increase in the previous three-month period, Eurostat, the EU's statistics agency, said Wednesday.

The figure was slightly better than expected but shows Europe's economy was hit hard when the debt crisis intensified and threatened to spread to big economies, notably Italy. In November, it appeared likely that the eurozone's third-largest economy would need financial rescue like Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

In a desperate bid to save the euro, Europe's governments agreed to tie their economies more closely together and the European Central Bank offered super-cheap long-term loans to struggling banks. The twin response has helped calm market jitters this year, despite the ongoing confusion over Greece's second bailout.

Whether that was enough to avoid a recession ? technically defined as two consecutive quarters of economic contraction ? remains to be seen.

"It remains conceivable that the euro area might still escape from re-entering technical recession," said James Ashley, senior European economist at RBC Capital Markets.

Recent indicators suggest that after contracting in the fourth quarter, the eurozone economy has recovered its poise.

Nevertheless, many individual countries in the eurozone are back in recession ? Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium, on top of bailed-out Greece and Portugal.

Europe's deteriorating fortunes stand in stark contrast to the performance of the United States, which has seen economic growth slowly recover over the past year and unemployment begin to fall. In the fourth quarter, the U.S. economy grew by 0.7 percent compared with the third quarter, according to Eurostat.

How the global economy fares this year is likely to depend on how Europe deals with the debt crisis. Many institutes, including the International Monetary Fund, think it's the biggest risk to the global economic outlook.

"With Greece still on the edge of disaster and the fiscal crisis deepening, the eurozone economy faces enormous challenges," said Jennifer McKeown, senior European economist at Capital Economics, who is predicting that the eurozone will contract by 1 percent this year and by an even-worse 2.5 percent next.

The quarterly figures from Eurostat were a little better than most analyst predictions of a 0.4 percent drop, but failed to affect markets, which were focused on the possibility that Greece might finally clinch a new bailout deal.

National figures released before the Eurostat data indicated that buoyant investment levels helped France post an unexpected 0.2 percent gain and Germany a lower-than-anticipated 0.2 percent drop.

For 2011 as a whole, the eurozone economy grew by 1.5 percent, while the 27-nation European Union, which includes non-euro countries such as Britain and Sweden, expanded by 1.6 percent.

Take a seat, Motorola's Android 4.0 updates will still be some time (Digital Trends)

Android Ice Cream Sandwich largeIf you?ve been waiting patiently for news of when Motorola will be bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to your ready and willing phone, we?ve got some good news, as the company has provided a series of approximate dates. Unfortunately, patience will still be required, so it?s a good thing you?ve had some practice up until now.

Motorola has updated its comprehensive upgrade schedule, confirming not only which devices are currently in-line for some Ice Cream Sandwich, but also when they?re set to roll-out too.

If you???re in the USA and own a Xoom Wi-Fi, then chances are the update has already made an appearance, and the Family Edition of the tablet will see its own update during the second quarter, so somewhere between April and June.

Unfortunately, that?s where the good news ends, as US Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the Atrix 2, the Photon 4G and the Xyboard 8.2 and Xyboard 10.1 won?t start until the third quarter ? that?s July until September. There?s nothing like another five-and-a-half months minimum wait to dull any excitement, right?

But what about the Razr/Droid 3/Droid 4/Bionic/Milestone and several other devices ripe for an Android upgrade?? Motorola lists these as ?in evaluation and planning? and that ?further details will follow.? It seems unlikely they?ll appear much before the second half of 2012, though, as surely if they were, Motorola would have a date by now.

So who?s to blame? Unsurprisingly, it appears that it?s the US carriers who?re slowing things down, as a scan of other territories reveals for example, the Razr?s ICS update could begin in April in Europe, Canada and Asia.

While the lengthy wait time is frustrating, Motorola should be congratulated for keeping us updated, and we should perhaps be thankful that an Android 4.0 update is coming at all.

Obama adviser: Santorum takes 'divisive positions' (AP)

WASHINGTON ? A top adviser to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign says Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has taken "divisive positions" on key social issues.

David Axelrod tells "CBS This Morning" he believes voters don't yet know Santorum very well. And he declines to speculate on how tough a race the former Pennsylvania senator could give Obama.

Axelrod says when people begin to look closely at Santorum's positions, "we'll get a better idea" of how well he'll do. The former White House adviser also says the GOP race has been overcome by "negativism" and that has a "dispiriting" impact on voters.

As for the Obama re-election campaign, Axelrod says: "We don't get exhilarated by good numbers. We're not devastated by bad poll numbers. We just stick to our knitting and keep going."

NPD: Hardware sales hit $144 billion in 2011, PCs lead the moneymaking pack
Canalys recently announced that smartphone shipments surpassed those of PCs for the whole of 2011. Well, NPD's just released its own set of hardware numbers, this time focused on revenue shares, and it appears PCs (that's laptops and desktops for NPD's purposes) are still far and away the biggest moneymakers around, bringing in about 19 percent (or $28 billion) of the reported $144 billion in hardware sales last year. TVs, PCs and gaming hardware each saw a decline in revenue share while smartphone and tablet sales grew -- slates and e-readers experienced a five percent increase, taking up nearly 11 percent of the hardware pie and raking in $15 billion. Unsurprisingly, Apple topped the chart for sales by manufacturer, seeing a 36 percent increase over 2010, while HP, Samsung, Sony and Dell rounded out the top five with varying levels of sales declines. For more number crunching and statistical whatnots, check out the full PR after the break.
